Los Angeles Forms Tourism Marketing District
Two Years in the Making, California's 59th TMD Approved
June 7, 2011
Yesterday, Los Angeles became the 59th California city to create a tourism improvement district.
Spearheaded by the Los Angeles lodging industry and LA Inc., the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the district will fund marketing and promotions programs to drive room night sales to assessed hotels.
Over two years' effort went into creating the Los Angeles Tourism Marketing District, which is among the largest in the state. The district's 1.5% assessment on hotels with over fifty rooms is expected to generate $11.5M annually.
